From Greg Taylor

I’ll tell you three things that impacted our church in a big way in 2009.

1. Wade and Heather Hodges moving into a mission in Austin, now called “Fulcrum Community.” The Hodges have long wanted to plant a church, and Garnett Church has contributed significantly to their launch in the Spring, and individuals at Garnett and around the nation continue to support their work. Check out their web site here.

2. Definitely one of the biggest impacts on my life this year was stepping into the role of lead minister, preaching and leading staff and working directly with shepherds. What a great group of shepherds and their wives and staff. I could not be more happy with the working relationship we have together, and I am very excited about what a fresh new 2010 will bring. Great things are in store. I’ve been enjoying preaching about Jesus and the Holy Spirit in 2009. God is awesome and has been faithful to us, and I sense there is evidence of the Holy Spirit’s work in people’s lives, because people’s lives are changing, baptisms are happening regularly as people are making public statements of their dedication and allegiance to Christ over every other allegiance. Praise God!

3. Garnett 40th Reunion. Wow, Lynn Wiltshire received a call and a dream from the Lord to coordinate and host a 40th Reunion and Homecoming for Garnett. This was a time not only of reunion but also of reconciliation and has led to revival and now rebuilding! God is rebuilding lives, we’re rebuilding our church staff, with the coming of Jenny Moses as our first full-time children’s minister in five years. We have also brought on two interns for urban ministry, Ben and Beth West, and we are thrilled to have these and all the other wonderful staff doing great work among a great body of believers.

What are your picks for great moments of 2009? We’ll pick from these to present in the next few weeks online and in our worship. Include photos if you have them. Comment below or email to garnettinfo@gmail.com.
